Welcome to the 2011 UWSMS elections! These elections allow medsoc members (UWS medical students) to elect an executive body to govern medsoc through the 2012 year. Take a moment to read the blurbs below, then proceed to voting using the link at the bottom of this article (available from 12th - midday 17th September). The fine details: Medsoc uses a first-past-the-post system of voting. You are only able to vote for one candidate for each position, and preferences are not collected. You are not able to change your votes, once you submit this is final. The winner is the candidate who receives the most votes. The process for this election is the same as previous medsoc elections. At the conclusion of voting, winners will be offered the position on the mobile number they included in their nomination form. Should a candidate win two positions, they will be offered their choice, after which the candidate with the next highest number of votes will be offered the position. If a candidate can't be contacted, it is assumed they will accept their position. The voting process is overseen by three executive members who are not standing for election. Each can view the voting software and monitor progress. In the event of a technical failure, voting may be paused or a re-vote may occur (for example, in the event that data is lost). Candidates standing for election are reminded to adhere to the rules, which may be found along with the election timeline here. Marcus Handmer, President. CLICK READ MORE TO VIEW BLURBS |
